Stop Spring and Security Spring
The Glenview Security System features two patented components
which are important to the efficient operation and the high
level of security for which the system is recognized.
The
Stop Spring (Figure 1) is permanently mounted to the unit
and keeps the mechanism open during the coin-emptying process.
After coin bag is empty, simply push the spring on the words
"DEPRESS HERE" which are embossed on the top of
the spring. The mechanism can now be closed. The action of
closing the mechanism also resets the system's security mechanism.
The
Security Spring
(Figure 1) is the heart of the Glenview Security System. It
is a replaceable flat spring that provides evidence of the
security mechanism being forcibly opened or tempered with.
The Security Spring is designed to snap (Figure 2) at a scored
line in the event of any forced entry. Under these circumstances,
the broken end of the spring will be seen detached. Also,
the broken spring will prevent the mechanism from closing
properly.
A snapped spring can be replaced easily with a special tool
(Part No. 015700) available from Glenview Systems, Inc. Replacement
of the Security Spring (Part No.027210) is shown below. IMPORTANT:
The cause of the broken spring should be determined before
replacing spring. Under normal operation a Security Spring
should NEVER break.
Security Spring Replacement
A)
Using pliers, grasp snapped spring on both sides of end as
shown.
B) Grasp pliers firmly and pull snapped spring
up until free from mechanism.
C) Using the Security Spring Insertion Tool (Part No. 015700)
insert a spring (Part No 027210) into the notch of the tool
as shown.
D) Push spring into slot making sure that the leading edge
of the spring is resting ON the shutter plate.
E) After spring is located in slot, remove and rotate tool.
Using the flat end of tool, push spring down until completely
seated in mechanism.
